Some Favorite Book Review Posts
Updated: Apr 4, 2022

My Of Books and Boys blog is primarily a book review blog. I've read hundreds of books over the years. My interests vary. You'll find reviews of non-fiction and fiction, children's and adult. I have plenty of fixations (things like inspirational fiction, Christian living, brain science, parenting wisdom, mental health),
I once wrote a favorable review for a book written by a friend of a friend. This author teaches at a university and writes many books. It irked me when I discovered comments she left on her Facebook page, providing a link to my review. Her words felt derisive as she questioned a review coming from someone who writes book reviews for fun. Yet, I continue to catalogue the books I read, highlighting the ones I highly recommend. I do so because I prefer to read what I want to read and not what someone else dictates. These reviews help me remember what I've read and connect with others who share my interests. So, yes, I write them just for fun.
Here are a few of my favorite reviews:
The World Played Chess by Robert Dugoni
The Reading List by Sarah Nisha Adams
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel Joyce
Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt
Redeeming Your Time by Jordan Raynor
Better Than My Dreams by Paula Rinehart
